Are you new to FH Aachen?
Information for newbees

If you are new to FH Aachen: It can take up to 24 hours for all the rights assigned to you to be allocated after your first login.

The  FH ID contains user name and password for all FH Aachen digital services.

  • All employees receive access via their UAS ID from their first day of work (contract).
  • Students receive their FH ID as part of the welcome process.

You need the ‘Duo’ app on your smartphone:

What is 2FA?
Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your user account. Proving your identity using a second factor (like your mobile phone at the moment) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.

Why do I need this?
Passwords are increasingly easy to reveal. They can often be stolen, guessed or hacked - you may not even know that someone is accessing your account.
Two-factor authentication offers additional security here: your account is still secure even if your password has been compromised. With Duo Push, you receive a notification directly on your smartphone if someone tries to log in with your login details.

When you use ILIAS for the first time, you must accept the terms of use.
These include information on data protection and copyrights.

It can take up to 24 hours after the first login to ILIAS until all global roles have been assigned by the system and access to the courses, groups and areas is possible.

If you cannot log in to ILIAS, please check:

  • Re-registration for the current semester is complete
  • Welcome process has been completed
  • Access only possible from the first working day (according to contract)

Board after Login

After logging in from the ILIAS start page, the individual ‘Dashboard’ - in the menu ‘Board’ for short - is opened.

The dashboard shows this personal information:

  • Your calendar
  • Your ToDo's
  • Messages for you
  • Your course and group memberships

If you have received an ILIAS link and log in from the corresponding page, you will be redirected back to the same page after logging in.

If you want to share an ILIAS link, select the link displayed at the bottom of each ILIAS page.

After logging in, all users can make settings via their ILIAS profile (top right).

Changing the start page | Alternative to the dashboard Teachers can, for example, select their category under ‘Lecturers’ as the start page.

ILIAS provides all users with a personal workspace (menu item ‘Space’). This area, as well as the ‘Dialogue’ and ‘Orga’ areas, are anonymous by default and cannot be viewed by other users (including system administrators). Users can authorise releases for other users, courses and groups in these areas themselves.

You can open the ILIAS mail program via the ‘Dialogue’ button in the main menu.
You will receive e-mails from courses or groups - also automated (e.g. reminders or system messages)
ILIAS e-mails are saved in ILIAS and forwarded to your FH Aachen e-mail address.
You can view the mailboxes via the ‘Tools’ button (appears at the top of the main menu).
You can also change the settings for the mail programme under your settings.
